Imagine my surprise... ANd you might be too...
At the end of this last month(March) SBC in there wisdom decided that "you" have to use there SMTP for all outgoing email that is called content filtering THEY call it ABUSE Filtering..
When your forced to use a specific SMTP that gives the ISP a way to see every email that you send to
If you deal in Securitys the Way I and my staff has to its called a SCC violation

If you don't get a Form to fill out then Type in the Search "Abuse"
Locate and find Abuse port 25 or email port 25 or something to do with port 25 Fill out the form make sure to use the pull down menu and select "Opt out port 25
In the other pull down menu. select under "Abuse Occurred In" select email
Leave a general note "Don't be abusive".. Just tell them you need port 25 open to send to other smtp servers and leave it at that.. Or just leave it blank...

Today on this subject I was also on with SBC Teir 2 having mine turned off.
The reasoning behind the filter is to reduce spam.. In some cases this works but in most it wont Earthlink has tryed it for years.
My biggest consern in all of this IS that it adds to taking away from your privacy
In my case it was blocking out Important Email that has to be ecrypted and with 2 differant DSL connections it made more work than it was worth.

You could also change the way your email logs onto SBC for outgoing In my case there is no option. NOTE: This is not being done to Business Customers that have Static IP addresses

I personally hate Spam, Spammers and esp Spam companies that have nothing better todo then steel from our privacy..
ITs our computer not theres we lease or buy the software we want to use. Then have Idiots break in..

P.S. Please use a Good Anti virus and help get rid of Syware by blocking ad filtering for it. The more that do against it the less we may see tomarrow.
