quick question about uninstalling cablenut / restoring settings
« on: February 05, 2003, 09:35:52 am »
I'm pretty happy with my connection, and have manually tweaked the registry.  But of course, am always looking for optimization  ;).

Anyway, in looking through the FAQ and forums, i just want to make sure I understand a couple things:

(a) when you install Cablenut, it zeroes out all the registry settings pertaining to connection paramters, correct?

(b) before it does this, does it save a copy of the registry settings as I had them, or do i need to backup my registry first?

(c) so that should something all of sudden not work, and I want to revert back to *my* settings (not the MS default settings), can this be done in Cablenut, or do I have to do this manually via restoring my registry backup?

I'm running win98 SE on a cable internet connection.

thx in advance,
jeff

If you really want to keep your tweaks do a export of your settings from the registry that yu want to keep prior to installing the program..
The cablenut program cleans everything to do with the TCP/IP and puts them to Microsofts defaults.

Once its installed you can import your old settings BUT I donty think youlll have to one you see how much of the registry youll be able to tweak with it..

Follow the links that mnosteele has posted and dont forget the Microsoft vtcp update and NDIS update for Win98SE found on the link above..

Once you have the program installed youll find that you can backup right from the program as well as change things faster without opening the registry.
